Are white hospital uniforms making a comeback? They are in some medical facilities. For example, in the Middle Tennessee Medical Center the nurses are returning to the white uniforms for a good reason. The traditional white imparts an image of professionalism and dedication. In deference to modernity though, the uniforms are not all white. They are a combination of white shirts and blue pants or a dark skirt and vest.

Uniforms serve several purposes. Not only do they give staff a unified, professional and committed image, they help others identify whos who. At the Royal London Hospital, the page describing the admissions process has a whole section on identifying staff based on the colour of their uniforms.

If thigh-highs are fall’s legwear of choice, then shearling is the season’s choice pelt. Made from sheep or lambskin, shearling is cropping up everywhere, from the inner layers of designer boots to the linings of leather aviator jackets. PAPER magazine recently rounded up its nine favorite shearling-embellished looks for fall. Items ranged from a Topshop clog and Acne jacket to a leather vest courtesy of Eryn Brinié. Officially, it’s the new fur—though not as aspirational or expensive as fur, shearling is just as textural and cozy. Rachel Zoe approves.
