Behold the Watercolored Brilliance of Schipper/Arques

Belgium-based label Schipper/Arques is known for producing highly conceptualized garments. And although some of designers Boris Schipper and Tomas Pedrosa Arques’ creations can be a little outr for our tastes, we’re all-in for their SS11 collection of colorful eveningwear. As their website notes, the theme is “about a girl running away from the restrictive environment in her family at the night of her debutante ball, ending up feeling liberated but overwhelmed and frightened out in a city at night filled with fog.” We’re not sure where splashing satin dresses with watercolor fits into this story, but we’re glad it happened.

Auction Confessional

A celebration of the arts reverberated through the soaring ceilings of Gotham Hall Wednesday evening during the annual Gordon Parks Foundation Awards Dinner and Auction named in honor of the late photographer and artist. With Iman as MC and honoree Karl Lagerfeld making a fashionably late and chatty entrance avec a sprawling entourage including Lady Amanda Harlech and Freja Beha, it was a decidedly chic affair. <

Kate Middleton’s red Canada Day shoes

Red shoes have always had a bit of a mythical allure, and we were pleased to see Kate kicking off those neutrals for a while and stepping out in a pair of lipstick-red heels in honour of Canada day yesterday afternoon. The mid-heeled shoes were a perfect match for her Lock & Co. ‘Mohito’ fascinator, and helped to breathe new life into her familiar Reiss dress.

But where did she find these stylish heels? L.K Bennett perhaps? Or are they another little foray into designer territory after her flirtation with Manolo Blahnik? No, they are neither: the shoes are from the British high street once again (though the high end, naturellement) and can be bought from Hobbs.
