T-Shirts, Motorcycles and Leather
It is not unusual to see motorcycle riders wearing printed t-shirts that is promoting a social club or touting the clubs charity. Its only natural to want to wear cool comfortable cotton clothing when enjoying a nice ride in the summer. But motorcycle riders need to be wearing a lot more than t-shirts and shorts for their own safety. Unfortunately, light summer clothing doesnt protect the body when an accident occurs.
There are plenty of clothing retailers selling special motorbike clothing for this reason. The clothing includes leather trousers, one piece suits, special protective clothing, leather jackets, gloves and helmets of course. The printed t-shirt should only be worn under protective clothing when riding a motorbike, and thats to protect the rider in the event of an accident.
The new statistics prove that motorcycle clothing helps too. The Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) reports that motorbike accidents have fallen 6 percent in the UK over the last year compared to the year before that. The decrease is attributed to better clothing and increased safety awareness. There is much more work to do though to make motorbike riders more aware of safety. As the MCI Chief Executive Officer Steve Kenward said, Riders themselves can also take greater personal responsibility for their actions on the road and can get involved in different activities to improve their skills and experience.
The motorbike industry is big business in the UK. This particular industry employs 20,000 people throughout the UK. It also contributes as much as 2 billion to the economy.
As the public safety awareness program expands, you should see more and more riders wearing safety clothing. But chances are, underneath all that leather you will find t-shirt printing!
